Heldritch Rush
Sloth Doctor Games is a Dundee based game development studio founded in early 2026.
The team initially developed a prototype of Heldritch Rush at Abertay University as part of DARE academy in 2024 and decided to move forward into full production.
The team prides itself on being community focused and provides space for new graduates to continue honing their professional practice. As a team, the aim to support one another and make the most of the studio environment. Sloth Doctor Games has created unity in the team with every member striving to achieve the same goal.
The Starter Fund will massively support the early stages of the studio as it becomes fully sustainable in the years to come. It will also allow members of the team to push the project into full production, creating the best possible game.
Key features
- The game is designed to bridge the gap between generations of players by merging old school visuals with modern day mechanics. Players of young and older can experience the game together in local co-op.
- Exterminate in style! With an array of weapons at the players disposal, choose which combinations best suit their playstyle.
- Choose a direction! Players will decide which direction to take throughout each level. Find which way is quicker, which way has more enemies, or maybe a direction that reveals something hidden in the unknown?
- Enjoy a fully voice acted experience, full of comedy and thrilling tension that leans on tropes of fan-favourite action movies and the cliches everyone knows and loves.
- Heldritch Rush is set to be released in 2028 on PC, with the aim of releasing on Xbox and Switch.

I applied to the Starter Fund because it was designed for teams like us. With the range of funding being limited, this was the best option for us. My ethos has always been to do everything I can to help overlooked graduates continue working on their craft, with the aim of paying them for their dedication. With the Starter Fund, this is now possible.
