Pip’s Odyssey
Frosty Dog Games is an independent game studio based in Guildford, Surrey, and founded by its sole director, Gavin Thorn. The studio is guided by his core philosophy: “Fun First, Always”, which stems from his belief that “if we’re not having fun making our games, how can we expect our players to have fun playing them?”
The Starter Fund will provide pivotal funding for our inaugural game, Pip’s Odyssey. The grant enables us to accelerate studio growth by bringing on talent much earlier than planned, expanding our creative capacity and establishing a strong foundation for long-term indie sustainability.
Frosty Dog Games isn’t about building a small version of a big studio, it’s about building a different kind of studio: lean, agile, sustainable, and respecting both players and developers alike. That’s the Frosty Dog Way.

The Starter Fund is an absolute turning point for a fledgling business like Frosty Dog Games. Receiving this backing allows us to start growing our team much earlier than originally planned, giving us the extra capacity needed to accelerate the development of Pip’s Odyssey. The grant means we can actively invest in building our team and broadening our skill set right from the start. Crucially, this extra financial runway provides the stability to take Pip’s Odyssey from an early concept demonstrator through to a polished, full vertical slice, and positions us to take the game to a full commercial release in late 2027. The true impact of the Starter Fund isn’t just supporting a single project; it gives us the springboard to build a sustainable, team-first indie studio.
