SINSTRUCK
We are Heuro Studios, based in Hull. The three of us met at the University of Hull studying Computer Science for Games Programming and became close friends quickly, working together in the VR sector before setting up the studio to make a game of our own.
Three years of working alongside each other gave us a lot of shared memories and a few shared ambitions. Making our own horror game was the big one.
The Starter Fund carves the path from three friends to a growing studio. That growth is what brings artists and audio designers alongside us, and horror lives or dies on how it looks and sounds. It’s the part that SINSTRUCK has been waiting for.
Hull is not where people expect to find a games studio. We would like that to change.

Key features
- SINSTRUCK is a 2 to 4 player co-op horror game where the environment is the threat. No creature, no chase, just a hostile world that is watching.
- A low-poly first person game built in Unity for PC, releasing on Steam, heavily inspired by PS1 era horror.
- It draws on the fear and guilt people feel about global warming, and what it might turn our planet into.
- One run is five in-game days, roughly an evening of play. No two runs end the same way.
- The PS1 feel invokes nostalgia for adults who want a co-op horror game that looks like what they grew up with, away from the sameness of everything else in the genre right now. It also gives younger players the nostalgia they never got to have.
- It sits alongside Lethal Company, Mouthwashing, REPO and Phasmophobia.
Quote
We applied because the Starter Fund is one of the only places that will back a studio before it has a finished game to show. Getting started is hard wherever you are, and most funding wants something finished first, which is difficult without support in early stages.
For the three of us at Heuro it means we get to grow past what we can do on our own. We’re collaborating with artists and an audio designer for the first time, and it gives us the freedom and capacity to create something much greater and make our dreams come true.
Growing the team is the part I keep thinking about. Going from three people to a team who share our passion while bringing their own skills is truly special
.
We cannot wait for what these next six months will hold.
