Spire of Arkodea
Arkodea is an independent game studio based in North-East Scotland, founded by developer Ray Tweedie. Spire of Arkodea has grown from a solo passion project into a collaboration with artist Sarah Cooper and composer Tom Targett, bringing together a shared love of distinctive, characterful games and worlds. Support from the Starter Fund gives Arkodea the opportunity to dedicate substantially more development time to Spire of Arkodea, expand the contribution of its collaborators, and turn the current playable build into a polished vertical slice. The funding represents an important step towards establishing Arkodea as a sustainable independent studio focused on creating original, slightly offbeat yet sincere games.

Key features

- Players are drawn into a mysterious world inhabited by Monoforms: strange creatures which can be raised, trained, battled and evolved.

- Real-time combat which rewards active defence, dodging, and careful use of each Monoform’s abilities.

The Starter Fund will let me take Spire of Arkodea from a part-time passion project into something I can properly commit to. The funding gives me more time to actually make the game, bring on some trusted collaborators as paid contractors, and turn the version I have now into something much closer to the game that’s been living in my head all this time. Above all, I want to use the funding to give Arkodea a proper foundation. The immediate plan is to finish Spire of Arkodea, but the real long-term goal is to build a small, sustainable studio that can keep making original games that feel like they belong to us.
